NetFlix

This is less of a saving post, than a very good deal post.

You may have seen a few NetFlix ads on the coupon pages, well today I joined up with them to see what it was all about, and I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised. Netflix, as many of you probably know, have just come to Canada and is available in their instant streaming format. The basic idea is you activate a device to their system, choose a video and it starts to play.

I was very skeptical about it at first, but they are offering a months free trial, so I have nothing to loose.

The first thing I did was went to their site and joined. Normal sort of form and pretty painless. Next I started up our Nintendo Wii system and downloaded their app from the Wii shop. This took all of about 2 minutes to do. Back on the Wii home page I clicked on the Netflix channel and up popped a code I had to enter on their website. This activates the Wii system against my account. If this sounds all long winded to do, trust me, it is taking longer to type it out than to actually do it. Their setup if very well thought out.

Once I had activated the Wii I browsed to a movie (Horton Hears a Who!) and it played instantly. I say instantly, I guess there was a 5 second delay, but that is as instant as I could ever imagine. The quality was superb! Full HD quality and not once did it buffer, judder, stop, or hiccup.

I have to be honest, I was expecting the worse, but it was just like watching a DVD the quality was that good.

All in all, for $7.99 a month they will have me as a customer for a very long time. There is a good selection of programs and videos for everyone. My 15 month old girl has her Wonder Pets, and I can even get the complete series of Red Dwarf and Fawlty Towers that I loved as a kid back in the UK.
